Obituary for Thelma Yvonne Johnson

Thelma Yvonne Johnson the daughter of Arlin John Harris Jr and Florene Williams Harris was born August 27, 1943 in Topeka, Kansas. When Thelma was threee years old her mother died and her father felt it was best that she be raised by her mother's siter, Aunt Margaret Davis.
She was the second of two children and grew up amid a loving and caring family. She attended Topeka Public Schools, graduating from Topeka High School. She later attended Washburn University for two years.
Thelma married Rev. Ben Johnson in June 1965. They later divorced.
Thelma accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. She sang in the church choir, was Youth Choir Director and was Honorary Mother of the Church.
Thelma enjoyed writing short stories, acting and had started writing a book. She
Thelma worked for the State of Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services for many years.
On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, Thelma entered eternal rest at Stormont Vail Health Care with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by one son, Daryle (Petey) Johnson; parents, Arlin Jr. and Florene Harris, Stepmother, Mary Harris, Aunt Margaret Davis and one sister.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory is her son, Arlin J. Johnson (Yvonne); two daughters, Benita Brady (Charles) and Lanie Stewart (Darrell); 18 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
